Davide, Magpale Break Ground for P25-M Capitol Provincial Dorm
Five months from now, local government officials from far-flung towns or cities will no longer have to worry about a place to stay whenever they are in Cebu City on official business.
This, as Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale led the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed 12-door, two-story Cebu Provincial Dormitory earlier today.
Davide said it will take the private contractor, Yes Construction, 170 days to finish the P25-million dormitory, which will rise in a Province-owned lot in Villalon Drive, Barangay Capitol Site. The site is located only a few meters at the back of Capitol Compound.
In a speech, Davide invited barangay officials who attended the ceremony to stay at the dormitory, once the facility is completed.
“I-charge lang sa inyong board members,” the governor said in jest.
Magpale thanked the governor as the project is, “Alang gyud sa kinagamyan nga nagkinahanglan sa serbisyo (intended for our constituents who have less but needs more of our services).”
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Cebu’s Liga ng mga Barangay President Celestino Martinez III and Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu President Earl Tidy Oyas took turns in thanking Davide.
They said that the dormitory will surely benefit barangay captains and councilors who have no place to stay here in the city.
Provincial Board Members Cristopher Baricuatro, Yolanda Daan and Miguel Magpale also attended the activity. Some Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) presidents were also there in the time for the capsule-laying.
The ABC presidents included Marieta Bucao of Talisay, Jovenal Chiong of the City of Naga, Joie Derama of Boljoon, andWesley Alimorin of Consolacion.
Provincial engineer Hector Jamora also attended the 9 a.m. ceremony. (CEBU PROVINCIAL GOV’T PR)
