Davide Gives PHP6.2-M Abattoir Equipment to 35 LGUs

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has distributed some PHP6.287 million worth of abattoir equipment to 35 local government units (LGUs) in the province.

Cebu Provincial Veterinarian Rose Vincoy said the equipment included viscera inspection tables, electric hog stunners, evisceration platforms, viscera carts and digital weighing scales.

She said the equipment cost between PHP170,000 and PHP250,000 each.

Electric hog stunners are used to immobilize hogs, in compliance with laws on the humane treatment of animals.

Vincoy said only 35 of the 51 LGUs in the province which have slaughterhouses were given the equipment.

“Some LGUs asked for a budget for abattoir construction, others already have the support of the National Government,” she said.

The Cebu Provincial government has also distributed PHP5.992 million worth of Nissan NV350 ambulances to the towns of Pinamungahan, Minglanillla, Argao and Barili.

The ambulances are worth PHP1.498 million each. (PNA) LAP/EB/PR/EDS
