Davao-Quanzhou Airline Link Launched
Xiamen Airlines launched Dec. 18, the Quanzhou-Davao-Quanzhou route with the landing of the Xiamen Airlines flight MF8679 at the Davao International Airport.
Xiamen Airlines will be flying twice weekly from Davao to the Chinese city of Quanzhou. The airline will be utilizing a Boeing 737-800.
According to a statement from Xiamen Airlines, the route will enhance bilateral exchanges between the two cities in the areas of commerce, culture and tourism.
Xiamen Airlines also operates flights to Manila, Cebu and Kalibo. Connecting several Chinese cities like Xiamen, Fuzhou, Changsha and Hangzhou.
The flights to Quahzhou from Davao International Airport will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Quanzhou known in the travels of Marco Polo as the port of Zaiton is an important metropolitan region in the province of Fujian. Last November Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte inked a Sister City agreement between Davao City and Jinjiang City, which is part of Quanzhou.
The opening of a direct air route to a Chinese city is timely with the opening of visa processing services at the China Consulate General here in Davao City. (PIA/RG Alama)
