Davao Power Firm Donates E-lab in Support to K-12 Program
Davao City (PNA) -– Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) and the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. proved to be an active partner of the Department of Education as it continued to support the government’s K-12 program following the donation the first ever electrical laboratories or e-labs to each of four secondary schools within its franchise.
Davao City National High School’s (DCNHS), Bernardo Carpio National High School, Crossing Bayabas National High School and Panabo National High School were the recipients of the e-laboratories.
In a statement sent by DLPC, the e-labs would respond to the demand for qualified electricians.
“This made Davao Light see the importance of having a well-equipped e-lab which will not only provide training for students choosing the vocational path but will also be a good start to creating skilled electricians,” Ross Luga, DLPC corporate communications officer, said.
He also added that Davao Light will also work on partnering with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to make these e-labs accredited as assessment centers.
“This way, electricians in the far-flung areas will no longer have to travel far to get tested and certified by TESDA,” Luga said.
“We hope these e-labs ignite the passion for learning and innovation in its students. We are also thankful and appreciative with the strong partnership we have forged with the local government, DepEd and now with TESDA for the benefit of our youth.” said Davao Light President Jim Aboitiz who was present during the ceremonial turnover.
Davao Light is committed to complete seven more e-labs within the year. (PNA) FFC/LCM/CHERRY MAE D. PALICTE/LDP
