CV To Get P31 Wage Hike
The Department of Labor and Employment 7 (DOLE 7) said that the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board 7 (RTWPB 7) approved the P31 hike on minimum wages in Region 7.
DOLE 7 Concurrent Head and chair of the Wage Board, Victor A. Del Rosario said that the wage increase is to be applied to all minimum wage rates of both agriculture and non-agricultural sectors in the region.
“The Board has just concluded the deliberations right after the conduct of the series of public hearings. Upon the effectivity of the new wage order, the minimum wage earners in Central Visayas shall have felt the increase in their daily wage,” Del Rosario said.
He added that all minimum wage earners in the region will now receive P435 as suppose to P382.
The highest wage hike in the region so far
“The Php31.00 increase is by far the highest in Region-7 since 1989,” Del Rosario added.
To recall, in 1989, the wage board in the region approved a P25 increase in wages in the same — which was the highest until now.
The last wage hike that happened was in 2020. The wage board approved the Wage Order, No. ROVII-21, which had a P18 wage hike.
The new wage order is now sent to the National Wage and Productivity Commission for approval. The new wage order will take effect 15 days after it is published. (ASC)
