Crimes in CV Increases, Police Says
Crime rates in Central Visayas increases in the past seven months as compared to the same period last year.
According to the Police Regional Office-7 Crime Statistics, the increase was more than 100 percent, of which records include those in the barangay level.
The index crimes showed incidents of theft, physical injuries and robbery. However, PRO 7’s records also showed a 4 % increase in Crime Solution Efficiency.
Meanwhile, police said they were glad to reveal that they were able to increase their buy-bust operations by 40% this year. The operations were led by the Regional Anti-illegal Drugs Special Task Group (RAIDSOT-G) in coordination with other special units of the local police stations.
Senior Inspector Henrix Bancoleta of RAIDSOT-G said that they are monitoring at least eight drug groups in the region, four of which are based in Cebu. He, however, said that it is not easy to arrest the level 1 pushers, who serve as financiers of the illegal drug trades, as they are usually based outside the areas their members are operating.
