Iloilo City (PNA) — Crime volume in Iloilo reduced by 9.48 percent during the duration of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in the city.
Senior Supt. Cornelio R. Salinas, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) who at the same time is the commander of the APEC site sub-task group (SSTG) peace and order, said that their task unit anti-crime has made 722 accomplishments composed among others of the arrest of wanted persons, anti-illegal drugs operations and apprehension of traffic violators.
“We do not give focus only to APEC delegates. Deployment encompasses all,” he explained.
Salinas added that their endeavor in securing delegates seeks to ensure that the Philippine delegation will also be afforded the same hospitality, security and protection should they participate in APEC meetings hosted by other member-economies.
SSTG deployed more than 2,000 PNP personnel detailed in various sub-units. Including other law enforcement agencies SSTG has more than 3,500 forces deployed to ensure peace and order.
