CPDRC to Get More Doctors and Lawyers
Due to the congested Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), the Cebu Provincial Government will deploy additional doctors and lawyers to the facility.
Additional doctors and lawyers is one way to decongest the facility.
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu (IBP) Chapter said that they will deploy new lawyers that will give their service for free or pro-bono.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health also pledged to deploy additional doctors to conduct drug tests and to help make the process easier.
Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia personally met the representatives from IBP and DOH.
Lawyers deployed to the CPDRC will help inmates acquire a plea bargaining agreement as soon as possible.
Part of the requirements to acquire a plea bargaining agreement is a drug test, this is where doctors play their role.
As of July 2019, there are 2,525 inmates inside the CPDRC where 2,354 are male and 171 are female. (MLC)
