CPADAO to Provide Cameras, Laptops to 50 Police Stations
The Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) promised to donate 50 laptop computers and digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras to 50 police stations under the province to help law enforcement personnel fulfill their job.
CPADAO Chief Carmen Remedios Durano made the announcement during the first quarter meeting of the Cebu Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) on Monday, Jan. 21.
Durano said the equipment would be of great help for documentation in various areas of police work.
For the implementation of Operation Lawmen, Durano said CPADAO released more than P5 million for the rewards to law enforcers for their successful anti-drug operations.
Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Manuel Abrugena thanked the Cebu Provincial Government for the assistance and promised to hasten the cooperation between the police and CPADAO in pursuing President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs.
During the meeting, Gov. Hilario P. Davide III extended his gratitude to CPPO’s top brass for the help in securing the Sinulog festivities.
Under the administration of Davide and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale, the top Capitol officials have committed to support not only the PNP but also the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Last year, the Province distributed 23 patrol cars worth P23.9 million to various police stations.
In 2017, the Capitol handed over 60 sets of protective gear as requested by Senior Supt. Eric Noble, the then CPPO director.
The tactical sets include a Kevlar vest and a Kevlar helmet, all of level four protection. A type IV bulletproof can prevent penetration from rounds of AK-47 and M4 Carbine assault rifles.
The Capitol also donated 1,358-square-meter lot to the PNP where the headquarters of the Highway Patrol Group and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group are located.
“The assistance that we extended to the police is the least we could do for them as they carry out the daunting task of keeping peace and order in the province,” Magpale said in an earlier interview.
Also present during the meeting were representatives of the AFP Central Command, PDEA, national line agencies, Commission on Human Rights 7 and Capitol executives. (Cebu Provincial Gov’t)
