Couple Ambushed

A couple who was driving along Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, was ambushed by two motorcycle-riding men.

Rodrigo Barquero, 54, a liaison officer of Kia, sustained one gunshot wound in the left shoulder and was wounded by a broken mirror in the upper chest, but he is now in safe condition. Meanwhile, his wife, Alma, 53, a processor at the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board 7, was not injured.
According to police report, the couple on board a black Kia Rio (BQR 777) passed by the area on their way to Lapu-Lapu City to hear mass, when the suspects on board a black Rouser Kawasaki appeared and the rider started raining bullets on them. Police said the couple were fortunate that the car’s windows were tinted.

At least 16 empty shells were found in the crime scene. Authorities believed that the crime was work-related as Rodrigo is in charge of processing documents for Kia, and could have run-ins with one of his clients in the past.
