Councilors To Hold ‘Run for Jack’
The Cebu City legislators have decided to help their former colleague Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem who is now facing financial problem because of his continuing medication that is why they will hold a “Run for Jack” so that the proceeds will be turned over to the then city councilor’s family.
City Councilor Richard “Ritchie” Osmeña said he and his fellow city legislators have recognized Jakosalem’s contribution to public service when he was still a councilor then and as chairman of the City Traffic Operations Management (CITOM).
The fun run, dubbed as “Run for Jack”, is scheduled on August 25 at the South Road Properties (SRP). “This special marathon is dedicated to our esteemed colleague who has portrayed a remarkable role in his term as city councilor and by way of financial help for his continuous recovery,” Osmeña said.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is happy that the City Council is concern to Jakosalem’s even if the council’s majority members belong to the rival Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK).
Jakosalem used to be a member of the BOPK, but later on filed his certificate of candidacy as city councilor for the last May 13 elections under the Team Rama, but he was not able to campaign for his candidacy after he had been confined in hospital.
It was learned that Jakosalem had undergone a head surgery to remove parasites from his brain due to neurocysticercosis, a parasite infection from pork tapeworm.
