Councilor Leaves Alayon
A Talisay City Councilor withdraws membership to his political party because the party allegedly did not support his son last barangay elections.
City Councilor Dennis Basillote departed from the Alayon Party saying it did not support the candidacy of his son last barangay election.
Basillote said he is loyal to the party but the party did not return the favor to him when Alayon fielded support to his son’s rival in the barangay executive post.
“Loyal ko sa Alayon pero dili sila loyal nako. Makapahiubos nga ang kontra sa akong anak ang ilang gisuportaan,” lamented Basillote.
Basillote, one of the senior members of Alayon, fielded his son, Rex, as barangay captain bet last Oct. 28. Rex, however, lost the election to Nelson Abellana by over 800 votes. The elder Basillote blamed the outcome to Alayon’s throwing its support to Abellana instead to his son.
The third-term councilor said he is now allied with Mayor Johnny delos Reyes’ Liberal Party.
Meanwhile, first district Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, who is in Manila, said this news came as a shock to him especially that Basillote is one of their party’s leader. Gullas, grandson of Eduardo Gullas–chairman of Alayon, said he would check on this issue when he comes back to Cebu.
