COSAP Conducted Surprise Drug Tests
Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP) conducted a surprise drug test on unsuspecting barangay tanods in the midst of a meeting about the releasing of their honorariums yesterday, September 25, 2018.
COSAP Head Gary Lao said in an interview that tanods that will have a positive result in the surprise drug test will be replaced immediately.
“Katong tanan nga nag-positive we will recommend for the outright replacement (All of those who are positive–we will recommend for the outright replacement),” Gary Lao specified.
Tanods who were not present during the meeting and surprise drug test will be required to explain, and if the explanation will not satisfy the council, they will be stripped off their financial assistance, along with the tanods who tested positive.
Lao said that they will not tolerate tanods who are drug users and asked the barangay captains to monitor their subordinates.
“Ako man gyud giklaro sa matag kapitan during our reorientation sa barangay anti-drug abuse council nga we will not maintain naay positive (I have clarified to every captain during our reorientation of the barangay anti-drug abuse council that we will not maintain [tanods who will come out as positive]) ,” Lao said.
