Cortes: Paramedic Center to Boost Investor Confidence in Mandaue City

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes said the opening of a paramedic training center in his city on Sunday will boost investor confidence in the city.

“It will be of great help for our city’s growth and development. It will add to investors’ confidence, knowing we have a well-equipped facility for emergency responders,” he said.

The Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf) opened its PHP15-million paramedic training center in Mandaue City Sunday.

The facility stands on a 5,000-square meter lot owned by the Mandaue City Government, which agreed to let Eruf use the property for at least 25 years.

Cortes said the new training center is located strategically because Mandaue City is in the center of Metro Cebu.

He said he has long wanted a training center or headquarters for Eruf in the city.

“This is a dream come true,” he said.

Eruf operations head Medardo Batiller said internationally certified instructors will train rescuers in the facility.

“We will focus on skills training here, not only in pre-hospital response but also in rescue,” he said.

The facility is equipped with mannequins for simulation and a training tower for firefighting in high-rise buildings, among others.

Located beside the new Chong Hua Hospital building on Mantawi Drive, the center has five training rooms that can accommodate up to 36 trainees.

Batiller said priority will also be given to disaster responders from barangays. (PNA) FFC/EB/SSC
