Cordova Town Ready for Third Bridge
As early as now, Mayor Adelino Sitoy said the Cordova government is ready for the groundbreaking of the third Mactan bridge next year.
“The groundbreaking is on January 1, 2015, ready na mi sa Cordova side,. Ang Cebu City side nalang,” said Sitoy in an interview with the media.
The bridge will be a joint venture with Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., the Cebu City government and Cordova town under a public-private partnership (PPP).
The end of this infrastructure will land in Shell Island in barangay Pilipog, Cordova and the other end will be at the opening of Guadalupe River next to the Cebu South Coastal Road Tunnel.
Sitoy said he believes that once this 7.9-kilometer bridge is there, Cordova’s economic development will be hastened as the bridge will not only connect the mainland Cebu and Mactan Island, it will also fast track business trading and attractions.
The project could cost P16.5 billion.
