Coop Council Holds Tax Forum for Coops
City of Ilagan, Isabela (PIA) – The Isabela Provincial Cooperative Development Council (IPCDC), in coordination with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), has recently conducted a Regional Tax Forum for cooperatives.
Lilia Castillo, Provincial Cooperative Development Officer, said the tax forum aimed to provide coop leaders valuable insights on relevant issues on taxation, tax exemptions and other concerns on business operations.
“We want to ensure that all cooperatives in the region were equipped with the right information on taxation particularly tax exemption for legitimate cooperatives,” she said.
Castillo said that Republic Act No. 9520 or the Cooperatives Law of the Philippines encourages the formation of cooperatives around the country to help in nation-building.
She added that under the law, cooperatives deserve a preferential tax treatment because of the vital role they play in the attainment of economic development and social justice. (ALM/MGE/PIA-2 Isabela)
