Consolacion Donates 1.5 hectare Lot to BJMP
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Consolacion donated a 1.5 hectare lot to the town’s Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) primarily to expand their facility to give more space for people deprived of liberty (PDL).
The signing of the deed of lot donation was spearheaded by Consolacion Mayor Joannes “Joyjoy” Alegado, and was attended by other Municipal officials. Mayor Alegado signed the agreement on town’s behalf and BJMP-7 Regional Director Chief Superintendent Efren Nemeño.
The current municipal jail can only accommodate less than 100 PDLs, as a result, the facility is now congested.
Mayor Alegado also said that as the town is consistently progressing, more people come to their town and reside, thus, more people are also engaged in different crimes. However, PDLs should also be treated fairly.
“Parihas rani sila nato no, mga tao ra pod ni, ato ra gihapon ning mga kaigsuonan pero nakasala lang sa balaod,” the Mayor said.
Meanwhile, the BJMP-7 Regional Director expressed his happiness and gratitude.
“One of our major problem really is the congestion problem, and one of the most congested jail facility in Region 7 is Consolacion. Very thankful ta sa atong government.” (MLC)
