Congressman Urges DOTC: Suspend All CebPac Flights
In light of what happened in Davao City recently, Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles today recommended to the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) to temporarily suspend all flights of Cebu Pacific (CebPac) while an investigation of the said incident is going on.
Nograles’ recommendation came after another Cebu Pacific aircraft skidded while on landing mode at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. The airlines’ Airbus 320 flight 5J-448 took out five lights along NAIA’s runaway. No passengers were hurt in the said incident.
“I call on my former colleague in the House of Representatives and now DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya to immediately mobilize the proper agencies to conduct a no-nonsense and transparent investigation so that the public will be made aware of what is really happening to Cebu Pacific,” Nograles said Friday during the regular session in Congress.
Nograles said the public cannot wait for a more serious accident to happen. “We are talking here about back-to-back mishaps happening in a span of a few weeks. These are tell-tale signs of grave danger to the public. It is time for DOTC and the full force of all its agencies to step in.” he said.
