Chat With Your Appliances with LG’s HomeChat Service
It seems that smart and responsive appliances are just around the corner, as LG has announced that it will showcase smart home appliances featuring the HomeChat service integrated with the popular mobile messenger LINE.
LG’s new HomeChat service will allow customers to communicate, control, monitor and share content to LG’s home appliances via LINE on their smartphones. The service is initially available in English and Korean, though LG says more languages will follow.
The appliances that will offer interaction include – Smart Refrigerator, Smart Washing Machine, Smart Vacuum Cleaner and Smart Ovens.
LG informs that with messaging capabilities of HomeChat sevice, customers will be able to receive real time status updates from their refrigerators, show a history of robotic vacuum’s cleaning trips and recommend recipes via the smart oven.
In addition, appliances will be equipped with NFC tags for easy pairing or transfer of data, like additional wash cycles or diagnostics.
All of these will arrive at Consumer Electronics Show(CES), scheduled on January 7-10, 2014.
