Comelec Resets Election Period for Upcoming SK Election
(PNA) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has moved anew the start of the election period for the April 25, 2015 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections.
Based on Resolution No. 9934, issued on March 24, the poll body scheduled the new Election Period from April 10, 2015 (Friday) to May 10, 2015 (Sunday).
The Comelec noted that there is a need to adjust further the start of the Election Period in the Calendar of Activities and Periods of Certain Prohibited Acts, “to avoid a situation wherein the prohibition on certain acts is already effective.”
The poll body said that the order will only be nullified when House Bill No. 5209 becomes a law.
The measure, seeks to postpone the youth polls to the last Monday of October 2016, is awaiting approval from the Office of the President.
Last October 21, 2014, the Comelec issued Resolution No. 9905 setting the conduct of the SK elections on February 21, 2015.
But, the poll body again postponed the SK elections to April 25, 2015 by virtue of Comelec Resolution No. 9930, promulgated February 5, 2015.
The Election Period for the SK election is supposed to start on March 26, 2015 based on Comelec Resolution 9930. (PNA) LGI/FGP/EDS
