COMELEC Nabs Underage Voter
Fifteen year old JM (not his real name)allegedly went inside a voting precinct to vote in behalf of his father around 11:00 am yesterday
in the precinct of City Central Elementary School.
JM was caught after Jane Gemparo Bacus, precinct in charge, noticed that the picture in the Election Day Certified Voters List(EDCVL) did not match with the identity of JM.
JM’s ballot was fed into the PCOS machine before Bacus recognized that the teen was using an identity that was not his. Right after Bacus noticed the difference of the identity in the EDCVL with that of the minor, she immediately reported the incident to the police. The police had apprehended JM and he underwent an interview in the COMELEC office.
Bacus admitted that she was not able to verify if the voter matched to the picture in the EDCVL.
The COMELEC advised JM to make a letter of reconciliation address before the Board of Election Inspector (BEI).
The BEI accepted the apology of JM but added that it will be formally resolved only with a letter of reconciliation.
JM is still under investigation in the COMELEC office.
