The Department of Justice announced that its Office of Cybercrime (OOC), in partnership with the Council of Europe and European Union (COE-EU), will conduct a Judicial and Law Enforcement Training Workshop on Cybercrime in Manila on 24-28 November 2014. It will focus on the handling of electronic evidence in court.

“We acknowledge the continuing exchange with our international allies to increase capacity to address rising internet crimes,” said Secretary Leila M. De Lima. “With the passage of our Cybercrime Prevention Act and the approval of the strategic action plan, the DOJ adopts a convergence approach for agencies to work together,” she said.

This unique workshop integrates the tasks of the OOC in the context of the COE-EU Global Action against Cybercrime (GLACY) project of which the Philippines is a priority country.

“With our Chief State Counsel Ricardo V. Paras, we are moving forward with acceding to the Cybercrime Convention. We thank the Supreme Court, the Office of the Court Administrator, and the Philippine Judicial Academy for nominating dedicated and dynamic judges to attend this training,” said Assistant Secretary Geronimo L. Sy, head of the OOC.
