Coca-Cola Foundation PH, PBSP Break Ground for First SHS Cookery Lab
Students, parents, and teachers of Lopez Jaena National High School (NHS) in Murcia, Negros Occidental witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony of a two-classroom laboratory for senior high school cookery students. The building is donated by the Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Inc. (CCFPI) in partnership with PBSP.
This is the first Coca-Cola Little Red School House (LRSH) in the Philippines which will be used as a laboratory. The one-storey building will feature a changing room and toilet for male and female, a storage room, work stations with wash areas and lecture room. Supplemental equipment and machines will also be provided to enable students to do practical exercises.
Aside from Lopez Jaena NHS, CCFPI will also provide SHS support in selected public senior high schools in Paranaque, San Fernando, Antipolo, Meycauayan, and Iloilo. These cities are considered urban corridors and major economic and growth centers of the country.
Since 2007, CCFPI and PBSP have been implementing the LRSH Program which provided infrastructure support to public elementary schools and capacity building for teachers. To date, the program has built 110 school buildings nationwide benefitting at least 50,000 students and 1,800 teachers. Present in the turnover were Coca-Cola Foundation Chairman and Coca-Cola Philippines President Winn Everheart, CCFPI President Cecile Alcantara, and PBSP PMO Director for Education Dr. Marylin Muncada.
