Coastal Clean-Up, Tree Planting on DOLE’s 86th
With the goal of helping promote environmental awareness, the labor department will conduct a coastal clean-up and tree planting on Saturday, November 30 in Baseco, Tondo, Manila.
These pro-environment initiatives will serve as kick-off activities as the labor department marks its 86th anniversary on December 6, themed “Patuloy sa Mahusay, Mabilis at Malinis na Serbisyo”.
“As we celebrate another milestone in the department, we also want to emphasize our shared responsibility in spreading awareness on environment protection and conservation,” said Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
Baseco was identified as one of the areas in Manila needing immediate clean-up and continued rehabilitation.
Joining the department in the activities are the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the City Government of Manila.
Apart from being lined-up for this year’s week-long founding celebration, these initiatives are part of the labor department’s environmental advocacy dubbed, “Green Our DOLE Program (GODP)”.
GOPD is the DOLE’s campaign that seeks to empower its officials and employees and also its tripartite partners from labor and management towards becoming “agents of green change” in the country’s world of work. (DOLE PR)
