Cloudy Skies, Light Rains Expected over Visayas, Mindanao — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday that an Intertropical Convergenze Zone (ITCZ) continues to bring cloudy skies with rains over Visayas and Mindanao.

The ITCZ affecting Mindanao, which is the thick clouds coming from the south of Asia, is considered a breeding ground for low-pressure areas (LPAs) or potential cyclones.

For Wednesday forecast, PAGASA said ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Palawan and Visayas.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening will prevail the rest of the country.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to south will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwest to southeast over Visayas and Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.

Highest temperature in Metro Manila on Tuesday was at 34.4 degrees Celsius recorded around 12 p.m. at the Science Garden in Quezon City.

Temperature on Wednesday in Metro Manila will range between 25-34 degrees Celsius while the heat index will be 30-39 degrees Celsius.

“Heat index is a human discomfort index that gives the apparent temperature, or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their body,” PAGASA said.

High air temperatures and high relative humidity will give high apparent temperatures or indices. Full exposure to sunshine can increase the heat index by 9°C.

Meanwhile, PAGASA weather forecast Fernando Cada said the country will remain storm free within the next two to three days. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
