CitySavings ‘In10sifies’ Its National Teachers’ Month Celebration
City Savings Bank (CitySavings) ‘in10sified’ its teacher-focused initiatives as it joined the Department of Education (DepEd) and the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council (NTMCC) in paying tribute to our Filipino educators who continue to inspire learners and significantly contribute to nation-building.
This year, National Teachers’ Month (NTM) marked its 10th year anniversary celebration with the themes “Gratitude In10sified” and “Gurong Pilipino: Turo Mo, Kinabukasan Ko”. CitySavings, as a long standing NTMCC partner organization, came up with more exciting events and treats to make the celebration more meaningful and rewarding for teachers.
The bank maximized its education-focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives as it implemented more sessions nationwide of Project ₱er@parasyon (Peraparasyon), a practical wealth management program for public school teachers and non-teaching personnel with more than 32,000 attendees to date.
Together with its partner, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) – Kool Adventure Camp (KAC) and Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center (EJACC) units, CitySavings conducted Project Synergy, an adventure-based leadership training for DepEd Divisions of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and Zamboanga del Norte, as well as Project Pink, a breast cancer awareness advocacy for teachers from DepEd Region 7.
Educators from DepEd Divisions of Naga City, Iriga City and Camarines Sur also geared up for a #WeatherWiser future as they attended Weather 101 and Tropical 101 by CitySavings in partnership with Weather Philippines Foundation (WeatherPhilippines). This initiative aims to empower and prepare educators to protect their school communities from the impact of adverse weather disturbances.
CitySavings also co-presented a local edition of Teacher’s Got Talent: Your Face Sounds Familiar with DepEd Region 7, the Coalition for Better Education (CBE) and RAFI Mega Cebu where Jean Paul Borja, who performed as “Madonna” from DepEd Division of Lapu-Lapu City, emerged as the winner last September 22 at SM City Cebu.
“As a collaborating partner, CitySavings has actively supported and participated in various NTM activities. This is our simple way of thanking our teachers. We always go the extra mile to give back to our teachers on this special occasion dedicated for them”, shared Reputation Management Head Paula Ruelan.
Teacher-clients were also treated by the bank to a day of merriment as CitySavings’ 115 branches nationwide prepared fun games, snacks, refreshments and personalized tokens last September 29. During the branch NTM celebration, Marilyn Magtulis from Barbaza National High School in Antique shared “Being a teacher is both challenging and inspiring. CitySavings for me serves with a heart and helps not just financially but acts as a true friend that we can trust”.
Lastly, the bank joined the culmination activity spearheaded by DepEd Central Office last October 5 at Ormoc City Superdome where an estimated 6,000 teachers from neighboring regions came to celebrate.
During the program, Leyte 4th District Representative Lucy Torres – Gomez said, “The life of a teacher is full of sacrifices but your greatest reward will be the kind of person your student will turn out to be. Thank you for all your sacrifices for our youth and your precious contributions to national development”.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones commended the Filipino educators. In her message, she mentioned that, “We teachers take pride in ourselves, in what we have done, in what we have accomplished and in what we have contributed to our country. I am happy and honored to be with all of you as we pay tribute to our teachers”.
NTM is a month-long celebration from September 05 to October 05 that engages the public and several sectors of the community to express gratitude to the teachers. (By Jomes Kemuel Ibañez)
