The Automated Tubig Machine or any coin operated machine which is popularly known as “Hug’hug Piso” is prohibited starting Thursday. This was announced by Dr. Lucelle A. Mercado, GASA BOARD, Chairperson and Dr. Stella Ygoña, Head, Cebu City Health Dept. during the press conference.

Doctor Ygoña said that this business is an obstruction in the sidewalks.  “very risky for our health for we don’t know that during night time that machine will be played by the bystanders or the young kids.” Ygoña said. She pointed out that their major concern in prohibiting this kind of vending machine is the health concerns of the people.

Violators will pay a fine of P500 and will have to undergo a seminar during Fridays.

But if they continued their business after being caught for the first time, their fine will be increased corresponding to the number of times they committed the offense.

“Dili mi gusto maundang ang negosyo, but ang health and kaayohan man sa katawhan among concern, Dr. Mercado said. (Ann Margaret Ylanan – UV Masscom Intern)
