City of Naga Opens ‘Plastic Barter Shop’
The City of Naga in southern Cebu opened its very first barter shop. The shop is also called “Plastic mo, paliton ko”.
The shop opened its doors on January 15. This is under city ordinance no. 2020-15 which supports the no single use plastic campaign.
A 1/4 kilo sando bag or 1/2 kilo polyethylene (PET) bottles or 1/2 kilo of polypropylene (PP) plastic waste can be traded to 1 City of Naga eco bag. Aside from an eco bag, people can also trade their wastes to a P50 coupon to buy fruits and vegetables in Naga People’s Market.
A household card is required to engage in any barter activities and wastes must be clean.
The barter shop is open Mondays-Saturdays from 8am-5pm and is located near the City of Naga Youth Holding Center and City of Naga Police Station. (MLC)
