City Observes “Know Your City Government” Program

The Cebu City Government once held its “Know Your City Government” program.

This year’s activity is spearheaded by the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) in collaboration with the Cebu City Youth Development Commission (CCYDC).

The program aims to uphold the City government’s mission of bringing back the trust to the government thru quick and quality super service with accountability, responsibility and transparency,

At least 46 students from both Public and Private Schools in the city will experience the day to day life of a public servant. This will broaden their outlook about the city government, report said.

CCYDC executive director Jocelyn Briones-Avila, in an interview with the BARUGG News, underscored that, “The (Know Your City Government) program aims to let the students learn the different functions of the 22 Departments in the Cebu City Government as well as the roles of the city officials and department heads.”

Avila further enthuses that series of activities are lined-up for three-day celebration, adding that on the first day November 12 was the Orientation to the different offices in the city government and the Thrust and Direction Briefing, and the observation and photo-opportunity with the City Councilors at the Session Hall.

The second day is slated on November 17 Monday wherein the students will be formally introduced right after the Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony of the Cebu City Government employees at the Plaza Sugbo fronting Cebu City Hall.

The Courtesy Calls to Mayor Michael Rama and Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella is schedule on the third day November 18. On the same day, the students will also experience an assumption of office to various positions in the city which will wrap-up the annual event. (CEBU CITY – Public Information Office)
