City Bans Pets in Public
Owners of pet animals, including fighting cocks, have been warned by the Cebu City officials to refrain from placing their pets in public plazas and road center islands to avoid of paying fines.
Cebu City Veterinarian Alice Utlang said starting next month her personnel will intensify the campaign and owners of pet animals, including pigs, goats and cows shall be required to pay P500 fine for every violation.
“Timan-i nga lapas sa tulo ka adlaw gikan sa pagsakmit sa mga binuhing hayop unya dili ninyo lukaton dayon, imbargohon na gayud ang mga hayop og ang Cebu City na ang manag-iya,” said Utlang.
Two weeks ago the personnel of theDepartment of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF) confiscated three fighting cocks after these were found inside the Senior Citizens Park near City Hall.
“Duna ‘say baka nga gidakup namo kay gitugway man kini didto sa public place sa Banilad unya duna may mireklamo,” said Utlang.
Some cockfight aficionados just place their fighting cocks in center-islands like in Imus Road along Barangay Lorega-San Miguel.
Utlang requested the public to report to City Hall if they saw some pet animals placed in public places so that her personnel can immediately respond on it.
