City Admin Takes Over
City Mayor Michael Rama has cut off a day from his 22-day vacation leave and visited Cebu City Hall to straighten out things.
After addressing his co-employees during the flag ceremony on Monday morning, the re-elected mayor then designated City Administrator Atty. Jose Marie Poblete as the officer-in-charge of the city.
The mayor’s presence inside the City Hall has ended Vice mayor Joy Young’s appointment as acting mayor, which was only effective for a week from May 20 to 24.
Poblete said that his appointment as OIC will take effect on May 28 to 30. He explained that the mayor could designate anyone accountable if he is outside his jurisdiction but just within the country.
“I thought that I can give it to him. It seems that he does not to know what he is doing,” the mayor said referring to Young who issued a written memorandum to Poblete suspending the post-fire clearing operation at sitio Bato, Ermita while in his capacity as acting mayor.
All city matters will be taken-cared of by the city administrator while the mayor continues his post-election leave saying that, “Everything will be accordingly be implemented.”
Mayor Rama left immediately after his press conference an hour after noon time to catch his flight to Manila, which he said is a personal visit. He was out of the country last week and will be continuing his trip outside Cebu for the following days to attend to other appointments.
He said that he will be back on due time or days before he will officially start serving his second term as the chief executive of Cebu City. (With Press Release)
