CITOM to go After Erring Drivers with Bench Warrants
(PNA) — The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) will start a massive operation against erring drivers, especially those with bench warrants, in preparation for the Sinulog celebration on the third week of this month.
Citom operations chief Jonathan Tumulak said there are about 500 erring drivers that were issued with bench warrant as of November last year.
Tumulak said that at least half of the pending warrants are yet to be served.
“We will strive to serve the remaining bench warrants to clear the streets of erring drivers,” he said.
He said Citom was not able to serve the remaining bench warrants last year because they have been busy concentrating on the traffic management.
Tumulak said that traffic congestion will be minimized if all drivers will follow traffic rules and regulations. Citom has intensified its campaign against erring drivers of public and private vehicles in the city.
Tumulak said these erring drivers have failed to settle their obligations after Citom enforcers issued citations tickets to them.
Bench warrants were issued by the court after the drivers were charged with violation of the Cebu City Ordinance 801 or the Traffic Code of Cebu City and failed to appear in court.
Tumulak urged drivers with pending citation tickets to settle and pay their fines with Citom to avoid the issuance of bench warrants. (PNA) SCS/EB
