CIDG 7 Seizes 30 Loose Firearms, P7-M worth of Shabu in Weekend Operations
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 seized 30 loose firearms and suspected shabu worth some Php700,000 in a series of operations in Central Visayas over the weekend.
CIDG operatives also arrested five people for various offenses.
Superintendent Fermin Armendarez III of CIDG 7 said they are exerting more effort in their campaign against loose firearms with next year’s national elections drawing near.
These deadly weapons usually become in demand during this period, he said.
They served six search warrants against alleged criminals, and arrested five people.
Arrested on Saturday were Samuel Villanueva of Sitio Cogon, Barangay Labangon in Cebu City; Edgar Padillo and Ernesto Mamalias in Tubod-Dugoan, Dumanjug; and Razilyn Rosalinda “Madam” Tecson in Dauis, Bohol.
They also arrested Joel Salugsugan of Valencia town in Bohol last Thursday.
Cristopher Luna, their subject in Sitio Bas, Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City, eluded arrest. A subject in Barangay Li-ong, Dumanjug also escaped.
But Luna allegedly left 100.06 grams of suspected shabu, with a street value of Php703,000. Police also recovered his .45 pistol and several unused bullets.
The CIDG seized a total of Php824,679 worth of suspected shabu, weighing 111.30 grams, including that of Luna.
Armendarez said they seized a total of 30 loose firearms, 23 of which were confirmed to be “for sale.”
The 23 firearms, which were seized from Dexter Pasaje in Barangay Kahumayan, Danao City last Sunday, would fetch around Php200,000.
Police also seized a hand grenade, 125 live ammunition, 18 magazines for guns and assorted tools for gun-making and drug paraphernalia. (PNA) FPV/EB/SSC
