Christmas Village Opens in Calinan
A Christmas themed village in the sprawling Prayer Mountain compound of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in Tamayong Calinan District, Davao City drew a thousand people when it opened on Nov. 25, Sunday.
The village features three beautifully lighted mansions with its surrounding gardens with 65 live pine trees. To light up the Christmas village 610,000 Christmas and LED lights were used. There are Christmas booths designed like European hamlets, fairy tale princesses and characters roaming around the village, the cool mountain air of Calinan also makes strolling around the area a pleasant experience.
One of the star attractions is a towering 87-foot tall living pine tree adorned with 222,000 LED lights and topped with an 8-foot star. The event will also feature a 3D mapping display on the pink mansion of the compound.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Executive Pastor of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ who turned the village into a reality said it was inspired from the Christmas villages he saw in other countries.
“So I decided to put it in the prayer mountain,” Pastor Quiboloy said of the idea in bringing the Christmas village to the eight-hectare Prayer Mountain (Covenant Mountain and Paradise Garden of Eden Restored).
The Christmas Village will be open from November 25 to January 15. Proceeds from the village will be used for the projects of the Children’s Joy Foundation Inc of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
