Christmas Celebration in Central Visayas Peaceful — PRO 7
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 said the Christmas celebration in Cebu and other provinces in Central Visayas was peaceful.
“In general, we can say that our celebration of Christmas was peaceful,” said Supt. Renato Dugan, PRO 7 information officer.
Dugan saif no one was reported to have been hit by a stray bullet and there were no reports of indiscriminate firing.
At least three persons, including a minor, were treated for firecracker injuries.
They were identified as Rebecca Bitor Cuizon, 55, of Barangay Lorega-San Miguel, Cebu City; Gerson Dayota, 36, of Sibonga town; and John Lawrence Delica, 12, of Aloguinsan town.
Dugan said the police will intensify their campaign against illegal selling of firecrackers because they expect the public will buy more of these on New Year’s Eve.
He said personnel from the Cebu Provincial Police Office have so far confiscated more than PhP70,000 worth of illegal firecrackers in Bogo City, San Fernando, Talisay City, Liloan, Toledo City and Argao on Christmas Eve.
Some of the seized pyrotechnics were piccolo, pop-pop, super lolo and sky rocket. (PNA) SCS/EB/RSM
