China Gov’t Donates P194T Rehab Tools to Capitol
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale, together with Chinese Consul General Jia Li, led the turnover ceremony held at the hospital’s new PWD Center.
“The handover of equipment to the Cebu Provincial PWD Rehabilitation Center and Minglanilla District Hospital is one of the steps we are taking to further strengthen our relations and is a symbol of our good friendship,” said Jia in a speech.
Davide and Jia signed a deed of donation of physical and occupational rehabilitation equipment worth P194,000, with Magpale and Consular Attaché Jiang Wen serving as witnesses.
The donated equipment include parallel bars, exercise balls, pedal exercises, electrical nerve stimulator and others.
“The Donor (Jia) recognizes and supports the noble task of the Donee (Davide) to provide effective and efficient delivery of programs and services to vulnerable sectors of society, such as women, children and youth, older persons and persons with disabilities, displaced individuals and families needing basic assistance and intervention,” read a portion of the deed of donation.
The P800,000 worth Provincial PWD Rehabilitation Center, a bungalow-type, 10-meter wide building, was built in 2017 and was completed in 2018, said Dr. Ian Genaldo, Minglanilla District Hospital chief.
“In behalf of Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale, and the people of Cebu, we are very thankful,” said Davide.
The governor urged hospital employees to take care of the equipment and the center.
The vice governor said she is grateful that Consul General Jia and his country are also looking at people in Cebu with special needs.
“Our friendship has grown, from tourism, infrastructure and investment,” said Magpale.
Magpale recalled that a few a years ago, Cebu and Jilin Province in China, together with seven other countries in East Asia, founded the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum or (EATOF).
EATOF was founded in Gangwon Province, Korea in year 2000 to pursue peace and prosperity through exchanges in diverse fields, especially on tourism.
Provincial Board Member Raul Bacaltos and Minglanilla Mayor Elanito Peña were present during the ceremony.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rene Catan and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Head Marivic Garces also graced the occasion. (Cebu Provincial Government)
