Chief Justice De Castro Leads Launching of Cebu City Justice Zone
Hon. Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo-De Castro graced the launching of the Cebu City Justice Zone at the Cebu City Hall of Justice on October 4, 2018.
Only a few days before her retirement as Chief Justice, Teresita Leonardo-De Castro led the launching of the Cebu City Justice Zone along with representatives from the Cebu City Government, Cebu City Justice Sector, DILG, European Union Justice Sector and GOJUST.

This is the first Justice Zone outside Luzon after the Justice Zone in Quezon City.
Chief Justice De Castro said in her keynote speech that she is thankful for the generosity of the Cebu City government by giving away 1.5 hectares of land in the south road properties as the location for the Cebu City Justice Zone.

“The cooperation and coordination of the different justice sector institutions can best be achieved through providing the appropriate structure,” De Castro said in her speech.
The Cebu City justice aims to centralize the Cebu’s justice sector agencies and find efforts for jail decongestion and court decongestion initiatives, create electronic courts, initiatives to deter human trafficking among others and prepare to institutionalize coordination among justice agencies.

The justice zone is an area where local justice sector agencies such as the police, the prosecutors, judges, public attorneys and managers of detention facilities, identify common problems and arrive at common solutions to address them. (Aljun S. Cainghog)
