CenVis Nutrition Officials to Launch New Plan Against Malnutrition
Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) officially pledges its contribution to the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022 and the Philippine Government’s Ambisyon 2040’s goal of improving Filipino quality of life by launching its Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition (RPAN) 2017-2022 on October 24, 2017 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City.
The new RPAN includes salient features of the new Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022 as well as the goals, objectives and programs, projects and activities responsive to the nutritional needs of the people Central Visayas.
The launch aims to introduce the different nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive program and projects to eliminate malnutrition as well as orient the local government units (LGUs) of enabling mechanisms by which these program and projects are anchored on.
Back to back with the launch is a planning workshop to identify RPAN’s implication on nutrition program management in the different LGUs, agree on local strategies to achieve RPAN targets and map out the roles and responsibilities of the LGUs with their respective Governors and Mayors, Nutrition Action Officers, District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators and other nutrition stakeholders in their localities.
The event will also be graced by members of the Regional Nutrition Committee who shall be unveiling their respective agency’s RPAN contribution to the LGUs. Specific projects will be turned-over to select LGUs on the day. An exhibit of the agencies’ contribution of the RPAN will be put up and technical representatives will be available for consultation.
National Nutrition Council Deputy Executive Director Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang will key note the event. Presidential Adviser for the Visayas U/Sec Michael Llyod L. Dino of the Office of the President was also invited to attend. (Nasudi G. Soluta)
