Dayanghirang in her message emphasized the importance of convergence of services to households with pregnant and lactating women and young children and encouraged the event’s participants to support the plan. The activity also included a symbolic turn-over of the RPAN document to RNC members and key officials of the League of Municipalities and Provinces of the Philippines for the local government units (LGUs), Nutrition Action Officers, District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Non-government Organizations, the media, legislators and the executive branch of the government thru the office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas. The launching activity was also highlighted by the exhibit of the nutrition specific, nutrition sensitive and enabling mechanism where members of the RNC showcased their programs and projects as concrete contribution to RPAN and provided consultation services on financing and management of the nutrition programs. It also included a counseling booth on managing overweight and obesity handled by RNC partners from the University of San Carlos – BS Nutrition and Dietitics Department. The morning event was capped with a turn-over of checks of programs and projects of RNC member agencies to select LGUs.
NAOs actively participated in the afternoon’s nutrition workshop where they agreed to step up the adoption of the new RPAN through revising their three-year plans in line with the newly launched RPAN, orient the rest of the local nutrition committees regarding the new RPAN, and define local targets accordingly.
With such event, the Regional Nutrition Committee hopes to get more support from partners and stakeholders in its intervention of the RPAN 2017-2022. //NVS
