CenVis Cops to Take Test for New Firearms
The Central Visayas policemen are set to undergo a series of gun proficiency tests as part of their on-going training to be issued new firearms.
Police Regional Office (PRO-7) PSupt. Renato Dugan said all police officers one and two will not be issued Glock caliber 40 pistols if they don’t pass the marksmanship test. This type of pistols considered high-tech, he said, are used by British police today.
Last August 14, police officers from the Cebu City Police Office, Mandaue City Police Office, and Lapulapu City Police Office took the proficiency tests ahead of all the others. Last Oct. 2 to this date, the second batch from CCPO took the same test, and on Oct. 9, the remaining PO1s and PO2s from MCPO will also follow. Lapulapu’s police will have theirs on October 10 and 11.
The region has reportedly been allocated at least 1,3000 Glock pistols.
