Celebrate 80 Years With The Philippine Nurses Association

The Philippine Nurses Association is celebrating their 80th anniversary starting on April 29 until July 29. Aptly themed ‘80 days toward 80th anniversary’ they will be celebrating and exploring the art side of nursing. In this two month celebration, they are calling all the nurses –active or not- to join in the festivities.

The celebration will start with a Press Conference and Presentation of Sponsors on April 29 at the PNA Clubhouse. A kickoff ceremony will be held at SM Seaside on May 11. There will be an Update Seminar with NLPGN on May 14 followed by another one on June 4. Another event for the month of June will be the Cebu Singing Nightingale on June 25. Nurses Film Festival is on July 2; A Superheroes Run for Kythe Foundation on July 17; A Research Congress and Case Study Presentation will be on July 25; Fellowship Night and Awarding of Outstanding Cebuano Nurse will be on July 28; and the series of events will end on July 29 with a Regional Annual Convention.

In lieu of the celebration for the nurses, PNA is calling President Benigno Aquino to sign RA 2720, entitled An Act Providing for a Comprehensive Nursing Law towards Quality Health Care System, and Appropriating Funds Thereof. This law will ensure that nurses who have recently graduated and joined the workforce will have a basic pay of P26, 192.00- Step 1 in the Salary Grade 15 scheme. Through this improvement of salary, it will lessen the need for nurses to emigrate for greener pastures and will ensure an increased performance of nurses nationwide.
