Cebu’s Local Gov’ts Urged to Organize Disaster Offices
An official of Cebu’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) on Wednesday urged local government units (LGUs) in the province to organize their respective disaster risk reduction management offices.
Julius Regner of the PDRRMO said he learned that many LGUs in the province have yet to organize their own local DRRMOs.
”The organization of local DRRMOs is mandated by law,” Regner said.
He did not name these LGUs but said they should not wait until disaster or calamities strike before organizing their local disaster management offices.
On the other hand, Regner identified the top five LGUs that have active disaster management offices.
He said these LGUs have staff manning their local disaster management offices and have purchased equipment.
The top five LGUs are Danao City, the towns of Liloan and Dumanjug, and the cities of Bogo and Carcar. (PNA) CVL/EB/EDS
