Cebuanos to Expect Hotter Days this Month

Published

on

These hot days make you think the Philippines is between the Sun and the Earth.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported a week ago that the dry season has already started and also reported that this month may be the hottest month of the year.

PAGASA forecasted the heat index would be around 38 to 45 degrees Celsius which is Pagasa’s Extreme Caution and Danger category.

With this kind of heat, long exposure might cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, or heat stroke.

It is best to avoid staying under the Sun for too long or staying in hot areas for a long period of time.

To avoid the negative effects of heat, here are some tips to cool down:

Wear light clothes

Wearing light and comfortable clothes could help you cool down. Avoid wearing thick clothes or jackets, especially when you’re outside.

Always rehydrate

Don’t forget to drink water during the heat. Avoid coffee, sugary drinks like soft drinks, and liquor as they dehydrate you — water is still the best liquid for hydration.

Avoid going outside for a prolonged time

The best way to avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke is to avoid going outside for a long period of time. Always stay in a shade or use an umbrella, and also bring your fan.

Avoid strenuous activities during noontime and the afternoon

Avoid strenuous physical activities at noon and in the afternoon. The heat will cause you to get exhausted quickly and may lead to heat cramps or heat stroke.

PAGASA said that they will continue to monitor the temperature here in Cebu. (ASC)
