Cebuano Working Student Who Topped Board Exams Given Brand New Car
The University of Cebu (UC) has given a brand new car to a working student who ranked first in the Mechanical Engineering Board examinations earlier this month.
UC Chancellor Candice Gotianuy said the university gave Brylle Pahimutang Gilbuena a brand new Toyota sedan for bringing honor to the university.
Gotianuy said the UC administration has been giving brand new cars to board and bar topnotchers.
Gilbuena, 22, finished his mechanical engineering course as a working student in the UC Guidance Center in UC Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue campus in Mandaue City for five years.
Gilbuena, a resident of Lapu-Lapu City, got a score of 88.10 percent and was the only Cebuano who made it to the top 10 of the mechanical engineering board exam.
Gotianuy said Gilbuena is the third mechanical engineering student from UC who ranked first in the yearly Mechanical Engineering Board examinations.
Marina Melendres Luchavez placed first in the same exams in 2016 with a score of 91.60 percent, while her boyfriend, Micah Arceño, also ranked first in 2015. (PNA)/EB/EBP
