Cebu Vaccination Starts Today
The vaccination program against COVID-19 in Cebu will start today, according to IATF-Visayas Chief Implementor Melquiades Feliciano.
The Sinovac vaccine from China arrived at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on Tuesday, March 2.
14,000 doses of vaccine is intended for health workers and frontliners.
In Cebu City, the local government is planning to purchase two other vaccines from different manufacturers such as Astrazeneca and Covovax.
however, they are still trying to coordinate with the national government for approval.
Cebu city has a PHP400M budget for their own vaccine.
Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan led the vaccine simulation in the city yesterday, March 3.
The simulation was held at the barangay Pajo gymnasium. Phase 1 of the vaccination is intended for health workers and medical staff in the city.
Person who wanted to undergo vaccination will have to take 6 steps including:
- Waiting
- Registration
- Counseling
- Screening
- Vaccination
- Post-vaccination procedures
Chan however, said that he will still get vaccinated when the actual vaccination takes place. (MLC)
