Cebu Trader Donates PHP1M Worth of High-Powered Rifles to PRO-7
A Cebu businessman on Monday donated more than PHP1 million worth of high-powered rifles to the Police Regional Office (PRO) – Region 7.
Chief Superintendent Noli Taliño, PRO 7 director, said the donation includes four units of special operations assault rifle (Soar) sub-compact weapons and a Soar designated marksman rifle.
Taliño said the high-powered rifles were donated by Alan Francis Sy, the owner of Ferfrans Specialties and Trading.
Ferfrans, in its website, identifies itself as a global law-enforcement and military strategic solutions provider.
Taliño, who accepted the donation at the PRO 7 parade grounds Monday morning, said the firearms will be used by the future PRO 7-Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
Also on Monday, Taliño awarded four police officers for arresting suspected drug pusher Castro Barameda Castro II and confiscating PHP1.8-million worth of shabu in San Fernando last February.
Police Officer (PO) 2 Oscar Badilla, PO2 Cleofas Cabrera Jr., PO1 Rodjie Alicaway and PO1 Samuel Siasol received the Medalya ng Kagalingan from Talino. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
