Cebu South Bus Terminal to Tighten Security for All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day
The management of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) will tighten security for the coming All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day or “Kalag-Kalag” holidays.
Joey Herrera, CSBT manager, on Thursday met with some 30 bus operators operating out of the terminal to maintain order during the expected influx of passengers.
Herrera said a total of 29 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at the terminal to monitor the movement of passengers, including the criminal elements preying on passengers.
Joy Tumulak, security chief of the CSBT, said all dispatchers have been banned from the terminal after one of its security guards lost a backpack.
Herrera said they expect to have 700 trips a days on Oct. 30 and on Nov. 1.
He said they have requested for the deployment of police personnel at the terminal during the holidays.
In previous “Kalag-Kalag” holidays, up to 30,000 passengers travelling to the southern part of Cebu province passed through the terminal. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
