Cebu, Ronda Mayor Shot Dead Inside His Office
Mayor Mariano Blanco of Ronda, Cebu was gunned down by unidentified assailants at around 1 A.M. in his office on September 5, 2018.
According to a police report, four armed men boarding a white van reportedly stormed the office of Mayor Blanco in the Ronda Municipal building in which the mayor’s employees were ordered to drop to the floor by the gunmen.

The gunmen went inside the office of Mayor Blanco and several shots were heard and then
assailants left the scene.
The employees rushed to check on Mayor Blanco and found his bloodied body inside his office. Mayor Blanco was then rushed to Barili District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
War on Drugs?
Back in 2016, Ronda Mayor Mariano Blanco was tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as a narco politician, but the Blanco denied the allegations.
Seven months before this incident, Ronda Vice Mayor Atty. Jonnah John Ungab was also shot dead after attending a court hearing of self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa as the drug lord’s counsel on February this year.
Ronda Mayor Mariano ambush adds to the list of politicians that were killed in Cebu this year.
Kalunasan Brgy. Councilor Roel Mabano was shot by an unidentified gunman just outside the barangay hall last June 10, 2018.
