Cebu Provincial Gov’t Gives Away 26 Cows, Carabaos to Farmers in Western Towns
The Cebu provincial government has given away 12 cows and 14 carabaos to farmers from Toledo City, Pinamungajan, Barili, and Asturias towns in the province’s western seaboard.
Cebu Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Mary Rose Vincoy and Cebu Provincial Board Member Grecilda Sanchez of the third district, with Pinamungajan Councilor Jeffrey Anthony Yapha, recently distributed the animals to the farmers.
The beneficiaries, who belong to different farmers’ associations, underwent training and orientation on livestock growing, said Sanchez.
The respective city and municipal agriculture officers will regularly check on the condition of the animals and report their status to the veterinary office.
Sanchez said her office will also conduct a regular parallel checkup on the livestock.
This was the third batch of farm animals dispersed in the third district through her office.
Farmers from Tuburan and Asturias towns received the first batch of animals early this year.
The second batch, which was composed of goats, was distributed last summer in Barangay Sagay, Toledo City.
The animal dispersal program gives the marginal sector the opportunity to own and raise livestock and give their first offspring to the veterinary office for redistribution. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
