Cebu Provincial Board Approves Resolutions Commending Sinulog Winners
As a way of extolling their dancing prowess and hard work, the Cebu Provincial Board approved two resolutions last Monday commending the winning contingents from the province in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan last Jan. 9.
The sponsors of the separate resolutions, recognizing the provincial contingents’ stellar performance, were Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale and first district PB member Julian Daan.
In a separate meeting, Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said the Capitol would give cash incentives to the winners and the municipalities they represent.
No amount has been agreed yet since Davide will still have to meet with the members of the provincial board.
The winning contingents from the province in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan are Carcar City, Naga Central School, Danao City, Tuburan and Asturias.
Danao City’s Pundok sa Kabataang Mananayaw and Asturias emerged as the biggest winners after clinching the top plum of the ritual showdown in the elementary and secondary divisions.
While the vice governor’s resolution wishes to commend all winning entries from the province, Daan’s proposal aims at recognizing the feats of Carcar and Naga Cities.
Carcar City won the best in musicality and best in costume while finishing second in the ritual showdown, all in the secondary division.
Naga City on the other hand topped the best in costume and best in street dancing in the elementary division.
